DESCRIPTION OF ARTWORK

Minimalist colors and geometries

In 2023, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Brescia metro and the year of Bergamo Brescia, the Italian Capital of Culture, internationally renowned street artist Luca Font transformed the depot on Via Magnolini into an art venue.

With his work “Connessioni”, the artist brings to Brescia a contemporary art project that is part of the Metro Urban Museum: 400 square meters of murals and, for the first time in Italy, an entire metro train in previously unseen moving canvases, a traveling art convoy that passes through the city.

"Connessioni" by Luca Font – the geometric mural covering the depot walls.

Minimalist patterns, colors, and geometries that embrace graphics and typography have given rise to “Connections”, a mural that depicts imaginary cityscapes and becomes a metaphor for light rail travel while conveying the values of sustainability, dynamism, and technology that characterize this means of transportation.

It is precisely the fluid lines that describe an imaginary bird that express the values of mobility, sustainability and innovation while the background “Brescia blue” recalls the visual identity of the city, finally the midnight blue cabin cruiser introduces a second subject: a “magic nest”, symbol of landing and vision.

From the depot, the work extends along the metro lines: the decorated trains travel through the city, transforming into moving murals and depicting, day after day, street art in Brescia and the dialogue between community, territory, and contemporary culture.
