Augustas Serapinas
Between architecture, collective memory, and social space, a poetic and political research that questions the transformations of contemporary territories.

Architecture as a memory of space
Augustas Serapinas (Vilnius – Lithuania, 1990) studied sculpture and fine arts at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and also participated in the Rupert Educational Program, an independent center of artistic research in Lithuania.
His artistic practice focuses above all on the relationship between architecture, collective memory, and social space, questioning the traditional functions of spaces and reflecting on the social and economic transformations of contemporary territories. His work is a poetic and political research on space: Serapinas uses architecture not only as physical material, but as an archive of human relationships, invisible stories, and cultural changes. Serapinas gained international fame by participating in important events such as the 58th Venice Biennale (2019), the Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art and Art Basel Unlimited.
