A master of three-dimensional geometric lettering who, since 1990, has been evolving graffiti writing into visual architecture, bringing a unique stylistic language that bridges the underground and institutional art worlds.

Since the early 1990s, Joys has brought his distinctive style to a global scale through urban interventions, international exhibitions, and his works spread across various continents. This artistic research is based on lettering, where each line and form follows precise geometric and logical rules in an ongoing dialogue between artistic innovation and urban space.
Born in Padua in 1974, Cristian Bovo, known artistically as Joys, began his journey in the ‘90s like many writers, marking the walls with his own name. While gesture was initially a personal affirmation, it soon evolved into a deeper artistic pursuit, prompting Joys to develop a unique language based on lettering, where each line and shape follows precise geometric and logical rules. In 1996, observing how the letters of his name harmonized with train windows, Joys found inspiration for a new aesthetic exploration that today characterizes all his works.
His creations – walls, canvases and sculptures – embody a three-dimensional interpretation of lettering, which merges with architecture and engages the public in a direct and spontaneous way. Joys finds authenticity in the balance between the underground and institutional art, resulting in works that engage with space and community.
The project inspired me from the beginning. The opportunity to carry out a large-scale painting intervention inside the warehouse and, at the same time, create a ‘traveling art train’ is a huge satisfaction for me. This train, which bears my stylistic mark combined with a modern digital graphic technique, travels together with the public, becoming a work in motion, usable by everyone.
